Le test mesure la force n\u00e9cessaire pour pousser une bille d'acier d'un diam\u00e8tre de 11,28 millim\u00e8tres (100 mm<sup>2<\/sup> La balle doit \u00eatre enfonc\u00e9e dans le bois jusqu'\u00e0 une profondeur correspondant \u00e0 la moiti\u00e9 du diam\u00e8tre de la balle (5,64 mm).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/app\/images\/Janka_hardness.jpg\" alt=\"\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Les essais sont effectu\u00e9s \u00e0 l'aide d'une unit\u00e9 d'essai \u00e0 taux d'extension constant (CRE). La charge de compression n\u00e9cessaire pour enfoncer la bille de 5,64 mm dans l'\u00e9chantillon est enregistr\u00e9e et exprim\u00e9e en tant que valeur de duret\u00e9.
