A common term also used for the thermal resistance measurement describing the thermal properties of textile products, particularly quilts, blankets, sleeping bags, winter apparel and infants\u2019 sleepwear is a TOG (Thermal Overall Grade). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The test conducted (ISO 11092:2014) tests and reports to steady state conditions, the test chamber temperature is maintained at 20\u00b0 \u00b10.5\u00b0C and relative humidity at 65\u00b13%. The thermal resistance result (Rct) is reported in m2<\/sup> K\/W.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An Rct result of 0.15 m2<\/sup> K\/W is equal to 1.5 TOG.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The TOG is a rating measuring fabric warmth, which is important in selection of sleepwear and bedding for infants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As babies do not regulate their temperature as well as adults, using TOG-rated sleepwear (like sleepbags or all-in-one garments) allows parents to use the information to select the most suitable product by matching the garment TOG value to the expected environmental conditions, preventing discomfort in the cold and overheating when warm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Manufacturers of coats, sleeping bags, quilts and blankets are increasingly referring to a TOG value in order to provide consumers with guidance towards appropriate selection of products. A garment with a higher TOG value is ideal for cooler rooms and outdoor conditions, while a lower TOG value is more appropriate for warm conditions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
