A intervalli di 30 secondi il provino viene avvicinato alla fonte di calore in una serie di passi. Se dopo 12,5 minuti non si \u00e8 verificata l'accensione, il campione rimane a 175 mm dal pannello per altri 7,5 minuti (per un tempo di esposizione totale massimo di 20 minuti) o fino a quando non si verifica l'accensione, a seconda della condizione pi\u00f9 prossima.<\/p>\n<p>Durante l'esposizione, una piccola fiamma pilota a gas viene tenuta a 15 mm di fronte al campione. Questa fiamma pilota accende i gas combustibili emessi, ma non la superficie del campione. Quando si verifica l'accensione, il movimento in avanti viene interrotto. Il tempo medio di accensione di tutti i campioni, sottratto da 20, determina l'INDICE DI IGNITABILIT\u00c0.<\/p>\n<p>Durante l'esposizione si utilizza un radiometro per misurare il calore irradiato dal campione.
