{"id":4470,"date":"2026-04-14T04:42:13","date_gmt":"2026-04-14T04:42:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/awtaproducttesting.com.au\/?post_type=news&#038;p=4470"},"modified":"2026-04-14T04:42:17","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T04:42:17","slug":"critical-heat-flux-testing-2","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/awtaproducttesting.com.au\/it\/news\/critical-heat-flux-testing-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Critical Heat Flux Testing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This test method is applicable to all flooring systems.&nbsp; It is used to provide data on the Critical Radiant Flux and Smoke Evolution, as required in the Building Code of Australia deemed to satisfy provisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Initially one specimen is tested in each of the machine and cross directions.&nbsp; Two additional specimens are then tested in the worst performing direction. A specimen of flooring system is subjected to a graded heat along its length with a radiant panel located at one end.&nbsp; An ignition flame is applied at the heated end.&nbsp;The distance that the specimen burns under the influence of the heat load is measured.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The heat flux at the point of extinction (CHF) is recorded together with the total amount of smoke generated during the test (Smoke Value).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"619\" data-id=\"4303\" src=\"https:\/\/awtaproducttesting.com.au\/app\/uploads\/2026\/03\/CHF-3-1024x619.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4303\" srcset=\"https:\/\/awtaproducttesting.com.au\/app\/uploads\/2026\/03\/CHF-3-1024x619.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/awtaproducttesting.com.au\/app\/uploads\/2026\/03\/CHF-3-300x181.jpg 300w, https:\/\/awtaproducttesting.com.au\/app\/uploads\/2026\/03\/CHF-3-768x464.jpg 768w, https:\/\/awtaproducttesting.com.au\/app\/uploads\/2026\/03\/CHF-3-1536x928.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/awtaproducttesting.com.au\/app\/uploads\/2026\/03\/CHF-3-2048x1237.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/awtaproducttesting.com.au\/app\/uploads\/2026\/03\/CHF-3-18x12.jpg 18w, https:\/\/awtaproducttesting.com.au\/app\/uploads\/2026\/03\/CHF-3.jpg 2107w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br>All types of flooring can be tested, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tappeti<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Carpet tiles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sottostrati<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vinyl sheeting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tavole del pavimento<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Artificial Turf<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to carry out this work we require three specimens in each direction (length and width), each 1050mm x 230mm in size, or alternately, enough sample for us to prepare them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When submitting a sample for testing, please provide information detailing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Product name (as it should appear on the report)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Composition (pile and backing for carpets)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Thickness<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mass or Density (pile mass for carpets)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Installation process (loose lay or adhered)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If underlay is to be used (specify underlay*)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We stock a limited range of commonly requested underlay products. Please consult a technologist to confirm availability.
