Floor coverings are tested against AS/ISO 9239.1. Specimens are ignited with a flame whilst being exposed to a radiant panel. The ignition flame is removed and the distance that the specimens burn away from the radiant panel is measured in order to obtain the critical heat flux (CHF) / critical radiant flux (CRF). At the same time the amount of smoke given off is measured to determine the Smoke Value.
