As an essential service to industry, the AWTA Product Testing laboratory in Flemington Victoria remains open during these difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our laboratory offers testing according to the AS 3789 series of standards that deal with textiles for health care facilities and institutions.
The laboratory has the capability to assess the critical minimum physical and colourfastness performance requirements of textiles as tabled in these standards.
Where physical and colourfastness parameters have been measured, AWTA Product Testing can provide a fully accredited NATA report that will state whether compliance to the standard has been met. This gives a confidence in end use performance and a measure of the ability to endure the rigours of the laundry.
The dimensional requirements of health care textiles may also be assessed and reported upon according to the various parts of AS 3789 as listed below.
Parts of AS 3789:
The AS 3789.6 standard is critical for the measurement of performance of health care textiles as it covers a broad range of fabric specifications and performance requirements for textiles in the health care sector.
The parts of AS 3789 that are bolded above deal with the critical assessments of physical and colourfastness parameters.
Note: AS 3789.5 - 1994 has not been included in this paper as this part is specific to laundering procedures for woollen blankets.
